Well...I gots one more thing to do with it then I can call it finished.(wink) Kit: Glencoe Models Scale: 1/48 Type: Grumman J2F-2 Duck History: This J2F-2 served with Utility Squadron 1 or VJ-1 and was based at Ford Island in Pearl Harbor on December 7th 1941. When I was searching for a kit to do a early version of the Grumman Duck I came across this model. Rather old and lack of detail it was pretty easy to put together. I didn't use the tires that came with the kit. Instead I used a pair of spare tires from my parts box that had more detail and looked a lot better then the kit supplied wheels. I usually try to stay different then the norm as most models of the Duck are in the form of J2F-5's. An added bonus with this kit was it came with markings for a Pearl Harbor bird and since I was always fascinated with Pearl Harbor aircraft I knew I had to do it. Despite being a Utility squadron aircraft, a few utility aircraft did get airborne during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Anyway...I hope you like the model. It will look good in my display case thats for sure. ![]() ![]() ![]() Enjoy, Nathan P.S. don't mind the white in some of the windows. I use glue to make the window ports. Once dried it will be clear. ![]() |
