Does anyone have a recommendation on a company that produces the custom-painted mahogany aircraft models? There seem to be quite a few suppliers out there.

I'm looking to get my business partner a nicely painted "desk replica" of his Cessna 182.

Ninety percent of those wood blanks come form the same factory in the Philippines. Some companies buy the blanks and paint them themselves, others farm out the painting to a mass production painter.
