That is incredible. Having spent 2 years building Tempest wings I like to see anything to do with this rare airplane. Thanks for posting it.

That is amazing.

So I checked the registry because I know zilch about the Tempest... and there are only 12 left, and only 1 with this engine type?

Kermit Weeks has one. The trouble with making it airworthy is the reliability and rarity of the Napier Sabre engine. Considering the important role these played in the war, along with the Typhoon, I find their rarity very sad. You should look up Ken (Klause) Adam, a German who flew with Typhoons with the RAF, and later designed the sets for the James Bond movies. An incredible guy. There is great info on the Tempest, including Kermits, here.

Thanks for the link. So of the 11 total, 9 are Tempest IIs and only 2 Tempests with the Napier Sabre. Wow.

Phwoar! In the absence of a decent number surviving Tempests, this is the next best thing.
