Here is the completed kit I have been working on a while. There are custom decals made by Spooky the cat (Al) which are just beautiful. I am new to weathering, and this gentleman wanted the plane weathered, so I used the Tamiya kits to make the oil on the cowlings, exhaust stains on the vents, and gun stains. It has a full cockpit made from the Eduard kits. I can't thank Al enough for helping me with the nose art.

Oh, and for the record, these pics were taken before I fixed the prop, and sealed the decals.

Thanks for the great responses guys. The plane is now in it's rightful place, in the home of the pilot that flew her in WWII.

Presenting a model to a veteran who once flew the real thing is one of the most fulfilling things a model builder could possibly do. I highly recommend it!

Thanks everyone. It was really great to be a part of such a special project. I couldn't have done it to the level I did without the help of spooky the cat(Al). he made the custom nose art decal for me. I have some pics I can post of the veteran with the plane in his home. Really a great honor to do this.

Looks great, Chris! You just can't go wrong with those Tamiya T-bolts. I'm building the 1/72 razorback right now.

I was kind of intrigued by the display at the Grissom museum featuring a cowl panel with nose art from Gen Kemper's P-47 "Kokomo." I see there is a 1/72 decal set available..I may just have to pick them up for one of my Tamiya bubbletops.
