Warbird Information Exchange

Not the usual plastic model but a model none the less. My latest completion for sport flying. Not up to competition standards but just for fun. First flight was last weekend and I'm very happy with the performance thus far. Wing span is 84 inches (1/6 scale) and it is about 16 pounds ready to fly.

Thanks for the compliment P5. The markings are based on a restored example which was based in Denmark, see link below. Unfortunately this Harvard was involved in a fatal accident some years ago.

You can count 'em Ross but I guarantee you that I will come up short! My motto with rivets most of the time is "just enough to be believable at first glance". Here are a few more shots of the Harvard by my good friend Joe Balabon who has much better picture taking equipment than I can ever hope to have.

,That's beautiful. I also like the retractable undercarriage, just makes the model even more realistic.

Thank you for all the compliments guys, for both the Harvard and the Hellcat. Very much appreciated! With the Hellcat now nearing completion I hope to return to my previously started 82 inch span Yak-11 which has been on my "to do" list for a very long time. Hopefully I'll be posting pictures of that one before the end of this year.

, A Yak-11 you say? Oh yeah he says drooling from the mouth. I can't wait to see that one. That is one beautiful aeroplane and even its later cousins, although having some style and grace can't match the Yak-11 for that.

Yup, a Yak-11! A severely under-modeled subject in both static and flying model circles as far as I'm concerned. I still have a long way to go but maybe I will get it done this year. I started drawing the plans an cutting wood on this one back in 2004! I'm actually much further along than what is shown here but I don't have any other pics posted to my Photobucket account.



Here is one from my plans nearing completion in Germany.



And another with a Canadian builder which has been modified into a "sorta scale" model of Yancey's "Perestroika" racer.



My airplane will be finished in stock Yak-11 configuration and painted as the restored D-FYAK which is flying in Germany.
