I recently read about a 339FG Mustang which crashed near Duxford after a mid air collision on 6th November 1944 - I was given a book about crashes around Cambridge by someone who knew the team who had excavated it . I'd like to do a model of this aircraft , as the book does have a drawing of it , but i'm wondering if it would have had a red rudder as depicted , as i'm led to believe that these were added during November 1944 but this aircraft was lost on the 6th . Any help appreciated . Many thanks , Regards Al.

Personally I'd paint the tail red. Honestly it would be very, very hard to prove that particular mustang did NOT have a red rudder. If she hadnt been lost, she might very well have had it anyhow.

Edit: The red rudders were of the 503rd fighter squadron. If that helps.
