Not everybody's cup of tea but I like to be different. Plus, my eye sight ain't what it used to be so I figured bright red had to be better than dark blue! The airplane is scratch built from my own plans to 1/8 scale (64" wing span) and should be around 10 3/4 pounds ready to fly. (The airplane was test flown prior to adding the detail and paint and was about 10 1/4 lbs at that point.) Power was a .61 size two stroke for the test flights but will be changed to either a .91 two stroke or possibly a .90 size RCV (rotary cylinder valve) engine that I am bench testing right now. Hellcats have all the right numbers and generally make very good flying models. This one so far has exceeded all exptectations. Thanks for looking in!

:), I'm sorry but all I can see are 4 red crosses. I for one would like to see this one in all it's glory.

Cheers,
Ross.

Yet another example of stepping over the side of the box with spectacular results!!! That ought to raise some discussion @ the next flying meet.

:D, That is absolutely beautiful Mr. Veich and I think the red colour scheme is different enough to be memorable. All the best in flying your model in the future. I wish I could be present at its first flight.

Cheers,
Ross.

Very Cool!

I couldn't pass up building a model of a red Hellcat with a pink tail :D

:D, Hi Spooky,
Your pink tail Hellcat also looks really cool. Good to see some models of colourfully painted military aircraft. It's a nice change from the usual drab grey we seem to be seeing a lot of these days.

Cheers,
Ross.

Nice work on the 'cat spooky. I thought about doing an Operation Crossroads paint job (I like the white and yellow tailed birds) on my airplane. I settled on my particular subject, believe it or not, based mostly upon the fact that I really liked the post-1946 insignia with the addition of the red bar! As if there wasn't enough red on the airplane already eh?

:D, Hi again Mr Veich,
On my PC the images show up fine but for some reason they didn't on my laptop which I was using at the time. Oh well, that's life I guess.

Cheers,
Ross.

A few more shots with the static prop installed. Looks almost like a finished airplane now! Still have to fill that big hole up front with a dummy radial engine but it's getting closer. (No servos on the ailerons yet which explains why they are both drooping!)

Something's been nagging me about this build, it just hit me-if this is a drone, why a pilot?

The drones were still ferried from base to base with an onboard pilot Inspector. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!
