After a 25+ year hiatus and a lot of refresher builds I poured quite a bit of time into this one. I started it in September with the intention of entering the Cleveland IPMS show in November. Ended up with a 1st in the Civilian and Racing category. Fun build, but builds more like an R/C model with all the filling and sanding. The scoop is scratch built from evergreen sheet and tamiya putty. The paint is Tamiya Gloss red with a drop of blue in each batch.
Beautiful job! I have that model but don't have the patience to try that paint job. I'll probably just do a military one in GSB.

Great job! As if it wasn't hard enough to see over the nose!

Curious as to the single white prop blade - I guess I never paid attention to photos of the real deal. That is an incredible build Jim!

In watching the late great Bob Odegard fly the F2G at Oshkosh, it was said that the one white bladed prop was a bit of sleight of hand, in that the engine appeared to be turning slower than it actually was. As you watched him throttle up, danged if that wasn't the case. He was accelerating, but the prop appeared to be turning slower.

Hope you don't mind the hi-jack, always been intrigued by the warbird racers, such a well filmed clip!
