London-Christchurch air race

BEA's chief executive officer Peter Masefield, Captain Johnson and Captain Baillie crew of British European Airways turbo prop Vickers Viscount, which competed in the London-Christchurch air race. It was the first civil jet plane to land in Queensland. A crowd of 600 cheered the plane in at Eagle Farm and by dusk 6000 lined the barriers to see it. Picture by Bob Millar Snr.
