That is indeed a beaut! I love the shape and longer tail moment of the C-8 and the ARE/HRE/SRE series cabin models - not as portly looking as the other cabin models and simply slick looking to my eyes.

Thanks for the links too! Mark

Great bunch of pictures guys, thanks for posting, maybe I'll try that one next year. Nice to see that Bamboo Bomber in attendance also, hadn't seen that one before. The Waco gatherings here on the wrong coast used to have some nice turnouts, but have really dropped in numbers in the last half a dozen years or so, and as I know some of the owners, yes it's an age thing......

Thanks Mark,
I printed the type listing explanation from one of the Waco websites after you posted those pix last year. In fact I printed up a bunch of them and recognized several of the a/c.

Fabulous pictures of fabulous aircraft. Wish I'd been there, it looks like a great gathering.

How many airworthy WACO's are there? I imagine at least several more are in resto to airworthy.

I would hazard a guess that there are 200 UPF's alone. All models combined? Perhaps say 300-350 AIRWORTHY. Sounds like alot? Not when you think Waco was the largest commercial aircraft manufacturer in the US from '29 thru '35 or so. We are talking original not replicated or that new "thing" made in MI.

astixjr wrote:Great photos Mark. I flew mine right after the rain storm on Saturday afternoon. On the level, it really exists and it really flys! One of the regulars at Creve Coeur said he would email me some photos of it in the air from Saturday. I know you guys are starting to think I'm making it up.

Terri Lee Chastain is flying the blue and red Rawdon T-1 (SP?) in your photo. I think she's taking it to Oshkosh and if she does, she will be the third generation to take that T-1 to the EAA convention. She's one of the few young people hanging around the airport. The WACO flyin should have been sponsored by the AARP or maybe Geritol. :D What's going to happen to all the antique airplanes when the current owners quit flying or head West? :?

Albert, if you need someone to fly that big red brick of yours so you can get pictoral proof it flies, let me know, my last ride seems to be MIA  Why someone takes apart a perfectly good airplane to let it sit is beside me

Anyways, glad to hear she is back in the air and don't worry there are at least a few youngins looking forward to buying cheap antiques and warbirds...
