A Forum for those interest in vintage NON-military aircraft

If anyone is interested, the Cessna 190/195 Flyin is back at Creve Coeur Airport this weekend 09/25 and 09/26. Sorry I do not have the details but the club usually has twenty to thirty planes show up. The airport has ordered a truck load of oil dry so it should be safe to walk around on the flight line.
Also, The Monocoupe Club is having their bi-annual flyin next weekend at Creve Coeur. I'll try to post some photos but since I'm a lousy photographer, maybe some other local WIXers can take a few shots and post them.

Uh oh! Bring a broom to sweep up the Cessna debris. I hear those 195s are groundlooping SOBs!

Of course I heard the same thing about Luscombes too.

Remember....its not the airplane.....its the guy in the left seat who is sleeping! We had a C195 for years with no issues.

I had a Luscombe and a 195 with no issues as well. My point was about old wive's tales.

It's usually the loose nut behind the wheel that causes goundloops....

I have no PIC time in a 190/195 and I've only flown a Tin Monocoupe (sorry, Luscombe) once so I my lime has no juice on this subject. Still, you have to admit that there are a bunch of C-190/195s and Luscombes that have done the twirl on landing. I wonder what the stats are for these two types?

My guess is that the number of taildraggers that have NEVER been involved in a groundloop is probably rather small. Might be easier to count those.
Here's hoping to a safe event though!

Funny....we used to have 13 Cessna 195's based at my airport. Three of these (including ours) that got sold never made it home with the new buyer

WacoYKC, were two of those the losers you mentioned in a previous post who read the book but didn't think they needed check flight?
