Don't know an ID on the project, although I remember it was all there sans engines. Thought I wanted only "warbirds" back then. It is only one of the great projects I could have picked up back then. Maybe Cousin Bluehawk remembers the Lockheed ID.

Both have been listed for sale over on Barnstormers.com. Ebay might give them more exposure.
The one that Ober is talking about being owned by John Stokes was a 12 that he sold to Pat Donovan (s/n 1252) who has restored it to amazing flying condition. He has flown it all over the world and was based in New Zealand for awhile. Last year it was flown back and based in the U.S.
Lockheed 10 & 12 survivors listed on my web page here...
http://www.flytoanothertime.com/Fly_To_ ... 26_12.htmlBoth the listings on Ebay would make great airplanes to hit the show circuit with. I would pick the 12 as you can load up a couple of friends and go. The 10 is outfitted in Earharts configuration so only a few seats, big fuel tanks and no interior. But for the ultimate Earhart experience snag the 10 and fly it around the world... again!

I think I saw the "Earhart" model 10 at an air show here in Texas many years ago. I probably have photos of it somewhere (35mm, though). I remember seeing the "N" number and thinking that it was the same as Amelia's Electra carried.
Silly question, but what makes that ship worth $1.2M?

Same thing that makes Heidi Klum's legs worth $1M each.
Uncommon, Desirable and hard to replace.

Nice work on that site, Dan! A couple questions:
-Which Lockheed 10 was photographed in the early '70s semi-derelict in New Jersey? Was it N72GT? N38BB?
-Which Lockheed 10 was used for the 1943 movie
Flight for Freedom? It looked like it had roundels stripped off the wings.
Thanks again!

I had a picture on there for awhile of a 10 that sat in NJ for many years. It would be either s/n 1042 or 1076. Both are owned by the same owner and were both in NJ at one point. 1042 now approaching airworthy again.
Not sure about the movie Lockheed.

Museum of Flight in Seattle has negotiated purchase of the Lockheed 10 (c/n 1015) and plans to feature it as the centerpiece of a permanent display about Amelia Earhart. They've launched a campaign to raise the needed funds ($1.2M for the plane plus an additional $200K for supporting artifacts and exhibit design). You can read more about it on their website ...
