For those who haven't heard, the Hawkins and Powers fleet of transports, patrol bombers and tankers is for sale. I'm working in Greybull on the sale over the next few months and would be happy to get photos or whatever other info anyone may be interested in - as time permits. They have six C-119s, four PB4-Ys, 15 P2V-7s, one C-82, one A-26, six C/KC-97s, a P3, a C-123K, an SNJ-5, six or seven C-130As and some other strays. If anyone wants historical info on these aircraft - now's the time to ask as records and the H&P staff are still available. I'll be happy to provide a little free pay back to an industry that has put food on the table for the last thirty years or so and to the folks who appreciate fine machinery. Hopefully, we'll find good homes for all the aircraft but you never know. |

I've got some lists (mostly in Excel - could make into pdf) and lots of photos (mostly jpg) already - how do I send that sort of thing? - I'm not at all familliar with how these forums work and I don't see an 'attach' option anywhere. |

Email any pics or files you want to share to me. I’ll upload them to my own server and give you the html links you can post yourself, or I could post them for you. |

Hey Aircraftsman, you may be the man I have been waiting on all these years! A long time ago I visited Greybull and found a few difficulties in identifying some airframes; it appeared I was not the only one and I made a page on my website which brought a few results. But there are a few open items- http://www.ruudleeuw.com/grey-logs.htm One I recall is about N3003, there were 2 candidates. Also there was a C-119 parked on display at the entrance which sofar I have been unable to identify. Propliner enthusiasts were always welcome at Greybull, I hope things turn for the good; at least 2 Neptunes have found a new owner with Neptune Inc I hope you can help with some of those tailnumbers on that webpage of mine. Cheers Rudi |

Him yeah, I meant BHoben; did not notice when writing Aircraftsman was not a nickname but status on this forum. Pity, he could have helped me solve a few mysteries.... Maybe H&P clamped down on him, they are a tightlipped bunch, never bothered to reply to any of my queries whatsoever. Their refusal to communicate combined with the amount of crashes in their existence plus the way they exchanged parts from one aircraft to another as well as hiding aircraft identities... all this led me to the conclusion that if there is one company that may have a few skeletons in their closets it is H&P... |

Here we go. Thanks Brent! Here's the PDF of the sales flyer. Quote: We have sold two of the P2Vs to Neptune and a bunch of the civil aircraft, one PB4Y is committed to a California museum and another is probably also headed for the west coast, the Kaman and most of the other Helos have gone, museums, back to work, schools and to enthusiasts – good homes for them but the rest are still looking.
We let the scrappers have one P2V as a test case – my soul will probably burn for that but maybe it will help save the rest – she was ‘broken’ in a landing accident and wasn’t going to fly again. I’m attaching a couple of the sale adverts (the first one is serious, the second one is personal), pass them around if you think anybody might be interested in adopting a stray or just for general interest. My job is to sell these beasts but I’d really like to see them ‘saved’ as well. How many KC-97s do you need today? – will that be cash or charge? Seriously, these aircraft are for sale – for sale for a profit of course, but for sale nonetheless – the competition may only be scrappers. There is also about 40 years worth of accumulated bits and pieces – H&P never threw anything away and never passed up a bargain. How many engines, props, instruments, panels, FC surfaces, seats, C wheels, odd spares etc. do you need today? As a historical note, I’ve taken to checking data plates – it’s amazing how many different ones can be found on the same airframe. One C-119 had three different serial number DPs and the DPs in the cockpit and fwd bulkhead were missing entirely – curious isn’t it? And this was an acft out of a major depot which shall remain nameless. Regards, Brent Hoben, aka WyJack Zenith Aviation, H&P Project KGEY Office |

Brent Hoben is Vice President Sales Engineering of Zenith Aviation and apparently not actually at work at KGEY in some capacity (I suspect). Misunderstanding on my part. Their website is http://zenithaviation.com/default.v2.3.asp I hope they will be successful in finding a new home for many of H&P's aircraft, but I fear the scrapman is sitting, mouthwatering, on the fence, watching these Strats... I doubt whether many museums will be able to pay for these planes and their transportation. |

Way back in my Evergreen days, I recall there was a Red Moline IL. Monosport, Monoprep, or Monocoach in the hangar. I can't seem to recall what type it was maybe a model 113? It's an early version of the Monocoupe that was later built in St. Louis and Florida. Anybody know if it's still there? If so, is it for sale? We would be interested in it for Creve Coeur's museum. It would go well with the Monocoupes that we have on display now. Thanks, |

Neptune Aviation (formerly Black Hills) of Missoula bought H&P's P2V-7 Tankers 139 and 140 (N139HP and N140HP).They are now on contract and flying as Tankers 43 and 45 (N443NA and N445NA).I'm not sure which was 139 and which was 140.I could probably find out,if anyone cares. |
