I was in Wenatchee WA. last week visiting a friend, and having some time to kill rode the bike out to Fancher Field to watch airplanes come and go. Spotted a beautiful TAYLORCRAFT F-19 from my neighborhood and watched a HORIZON -400 crash 8 land. What's odd is that the horizon logo on the side was reduced in size and was behind an ALASKA AIR crowquill logo and 'Chester' was painted on the tail (Chester is the name given to the Inuit figure on ASA's tails) and since ASR owns Horizontal, I wondered if this was just a 'teamwork' scheme or is ALASKA getting ready to take Horizontal entirely in house.

Umm... not "getting ready", already done, about 6 months ago.

On January 25, 2011, Alaska Airlines announced that it will be retiring the Horizon Air brand. All Horizon planes will be repainted in the trademarked eskimo Alaska livery, but the service and extras Horizon is known for will stay the same.

Shows how often I bother with visiting a commercial airport, I'll miss the coffee cup stain logo more than the original orange smog scheme on the F-227's, but it will take some getting used to seeing what now looks like an MD-80 with high wings.
Must be interesting mixing union and non union pilots in the same outfit-not on the same equipment.
