747 GEnx first flight

First flight of the GEnx 3/23/09

That is RA 016, the 16th '47 built and Ex Pan Am. Sevral years ago it transited through BADWRENCH on an RON enroute to Alaska to do icing testing on the next gen CFM for the new series 737.
As the 'catch' Inspector for arrivals that day I was on the ramp and said to one of the other mechanics "I know that airplane'. When the stairs were to the door I went up and waited for the #1L to be opened, when it was I noted the spiral staircase and asked the guy I met at the door 'whats the line number of this one?' his reply was RA016 and Isaid 'ex PanAm and I built this old girl back in 1969'. That tickled the heck out of all the crew and i got sort of the grand tour of the old gal, brought back memories then as well as seeing her in this photo.
Somewhere I have a couple pictures of the airplane on our ramp with that teeny little CFM in #2 position.
