Either you have a three foot long prop extension or you're installing a turboprop engine on there!

Well, actually it takes a 12" prop extension. :-)

It's looking great Gary. Get your paint yet?

Great update Gary. Hope I can get out there to see the B-24 and the racer here soon.

Well, I know it's been a while since the last update, and that's primarily because I've not done much to the racer in a while. As you know, I've been waiting for quite a while on my paint to arrive, but with no luck. I finally got frustrated and sold some old parts I had in order to purchase the paint myself. I bought the paint yesterday and painted the wing last evening. There are a few flaws that I must address, but overall, it's okay I reckon. I'm just glad to finally see some forward progress here.......

Now, for some good news.......Fellow air racer, Ken Gottschall, was extremely generous to me recently and has donated the canopy Plexiglas for my racer and also loaned me an engine core so that I can start mocking up my cowling. This is extremely helpful and greatly appreciated!

I'll try to get y'all a more detailed update soon.

Lookin' good so far, Gary! :D

...Just an idle thought, but....

Pics of the "start-to-finish" on the racer (posted artfully next to the work space)would be a nice display for kids coming thru the Museum on "How You Build An Airplane"....

..Like I said...Just an idle thought

Looking good Gary. Too bad about the shipping issue. :( Hope something gets figured out and you can complete the plane soon. I was having update withdrawals... :)

Thanks for the comments, y'all. It's nice to get some feedback to make sure you're paying attention.

Bob, not a bad idea about the display. Heck, the adults wonder as much about the little racer as they come through the hangar as the kids do. I just don't know if I've got the time to spare to make up a display like that. I'll ponder it some more though.

This picture isn't much different than the one posted the other day, but the wing has been cleared of it's initial paint flaws and is now complete. Here it is unmasked and finally done with it's paint.....

Just threw the wing on late yesterday and snapped these two pictures just prior to leaving for Breckenridge this morning to help Nelson Ezell and crew. I just got back to Midland, so I thought I'd go ahead and post these real quick, just to give a better mental picture of what the little clunker will look like eventually.......
