For any of you out there in cyber-world who have done anything pertaining to mountain/backcountry flying, the name Sparky Imeson will ring a bell, or at least it should. The man wrote prolifically on the subject, and titles include some such as, "The Mountain Flying Bible" and "Taildragger Tactics". Sparky departed the Bozeman airport on Tuesday @ approx. 1400 enroute to Helena, a distance of about 60 NM. He never made it. After an extensive 2 day search by a group of people ranging from the National Guard to local farmers in their cubs, his plane was found this morning 2.5 miles SE of the Canyon Ferry, MT airport. Sparky did not survive the crash, I'm sorry to say. There are no details as to the cause of the crash as of yet.
