Someone asked what plane to buy, no more info was given other than a budgetof $100K.
Ist, there are many good planes advertised in Trade A Plane for well under that price.
2nd no info of use was given, other than the suggestion of an C182, also a Mooney. To me, in very broad terms, the 182 is sort of like a Chevy, basic, should be reliable and not real exciting. The Mooney is more sporty. It will be faster, a good M20J, when new really did do 201mph and I flight planned mine at 150k cross country. It has tremendous range, 6 hours fuel at 10gph. It is not hard to fly, and can land on less than 2000 feet if you slow down on final. Also there are lot;s of nice Bonanzas. You may not find perhaps the best one a F33, but there are lots's of Vtails. They handle well and are easy to land.
3, These are all used airplanes. It is vital that you don't but junk. You don't save money in the long run by getting something too cheap with a lot of problems. Parts are expensive, especailly Beech.
Do a lot of checking yourself , look at the logbooks, then get a good INDEPENDENT A&P familiar with that type to check it out and get his report in writing. Buy the best one you can find in your price.
Don't worry to much about learning to fly them, it's not hard. Of course insurance is a little more expensive for the retracts, but you will be building worthwhile time.
Good luck, pm me in you need more specifics
