Are some of the things you can't get anymore. EADS announced Thursday that it will no longer build the 4 engined A-340 due to poor sales. While Boeing's 777 has 1295 orders for the 'triple', the A-340 has sold only 379 total aircraft and hasn't received an order for one in over two years. (will they look good in DHL yellow?)
EADS also announced that the A-350 XWB will be delayed at least 6 months due to shortages and delays in delivery of some parts and some composite assemblies.

I always see 4-engined contrails flying SW towards the coast and I've wondered whether they were A340s or 747s.
Anyone fly 340s to the coast from Europe?
I can't say I've ever seen many even at LHR.

Still 379 aircraft, wonder if it broke even?

SAS operates a 340 between SEA and Oslo every day both ways, NWDELTA has a bunch of 340's in and out of SEA(how'd you like the job of 'Fleet Support logistics' for them? ) BA is 47's, AEROFLOT An-96's also are regular visitors here, not sure what their routing is but it took a long time to get the AEROFLOTS to stop trying to line up and land on Hwy 99 instead of the runways that run parallel to 99 @ SEA. 'ah, I don't think your wingspan will fit between the La Quinta and Double Tree' And An-124's are fairly common @ KPAE to Boeing Everett.

Lufthansa flies quite a few A340's between USA and Europe, I think Cathay pacific and Virgin Atlantic do as well?
