The Boeing Co. has delivered it's 7000th 737 to Dubai based flydubai, the jet maker said Friday. The aircraft is a 737-800 and is the 14th of it's kind to go to flydubai, which has an additional 30 737-80's on order with Boeing.
"It's incredible to be delivering our 7000th 737," Beverly Wyse, general manager of the 737 program, said in a statement. "We thank flydubai and all our customers who have made the 737 the world's most popular jet airliner." Wyse noted that Boeing'success is due to the expertise of thousands of the company's employees.
Boeing's 737 program has been speeding up production of the 737, which is built in Renton. The company said it took nearly five years to produce 1000 737's between the 4000th and 5000th aircraft But it took two years less time to build the aircraft from 6000 to the 7000th the one delivered to flydubai on Friday.
The company will increase production from roughly 35 aircraft a month in early 2012 to 42 a month by 2014. More than 5400 737's are being flown by 358 airlines around the world.

When the Renton football premiered, the DC-9 and BAC 1-11 were already in service and those of us building the -100's and early -200's were told that Boeing might be lucky to sell 500 total airplanes.
