Do you think all the difficulties for women in aviation ended when Amelia Earhart took to the skies? Broomfield’s Emily Applegate, 26, and Aurora’s Zia Safko, 22, are commercial-rated multi-engine pilots, and they say aviation is still a “man’s world.”

But that isn’t stopping them from competing in the 83rd annual All-Women’s Air Race Classic – a timed race from Arizona to Ohio that starts tomorrow.
