Robert Dorr who co-authored the book "H e l l Hawks" is coming out with a new book, "Mission to Berlin: The American Airmen Who Struck the Heart of Hitler's Reich". It ought to be a good one. www.borders.com/online/store/TitleDetail?sku=0760338981

Last week my current book "MISSION TO BERLIN" was awarded a Ralston Institute prize for non-fiction. The book was published this past spring (2011). It is an account of B-17 Flying Fortress crewmembers in Europe in World War II. I'm grateful to everyone who assisted me in putting this history together and everyone who has encouraged my writing about Americans in World War II.

I got my copy in the mail Monday the 19th and was up pretty late last night reading until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. This one is going on a very narrow shelf in my stash of aviation books alongside "Warpath" by Steve Hickey, and it's the perfect companion to Ed Jablonskis' FLYING FORTRESS.
Beg, borrow, threaten. promise or do whatever it takes to get your hands on this book! It will be one you remember for the rest of your life when it comes to 'I wonder what it was really like?' This book answers all those questions and Bob lets you imagine from descriptions only what these folks looked like, few, but important to the point photos, a couple of simple maps and an almost minute by minute blow by blow focused on one mission on one day in one theatre. One damned fine read!!
