Post subject:  1922 US Air Service Document and Photo from Chanute Field

For Sale is a Cerificate dated 1922. The aviation part of the military was called the AVIATION SECTION, U.S. SIGNAL CORPS from 1914-1918. Then it was called the UNITED STATES ARMY AIR SERVICE from 1918-1926. In 1926 it changed to the UNITED STATES ARMY AIR CORPS. The certificate I have for sale is dated 1922 when it was called the Air Service. It has an embossed seal in the lower left corner and it is signed by two Majors in the Air Service. It was presented to a Private Miller for completing a machinist course in the Air Service Technical School. It measures 8" x 10-1/2" in size and has a tear in the left edge and a thumb tack hole in the right edge. Along with the certificate is a 7-1/4" x 9-1/2" photo of a large building with a sign over the entrance reading "RANTOUL TAILORING CO." It has a lot of bends, creases and damage. These items came together and Rantoul is the home of Chanute Field so I believe they are related. The photo could be of the place the men's uniforms were issued?? Air Service items are hard to find. Both items for $25.00 delivered in the USA. Thanks.
