Identification of German Shell

Hi All
I am new to the forum and could do with some help with identification of this German Shell/Bomb.
I have been told that it was dropped on Coventry UK, after being made safe it was then sent to a company in Birmingham UK called Albright and Wilsons. I think to have the contents, High explosive removed but un-certain about this.
Help on this would be appreciated.

From the construction and the two fuse pockets, it's appears to be either an SC-250 or SC-500 bomb.
The SC stands for Spreng Cylindrisch (General Purpose Bomb), the numbers indicate the weight in kilograms.

SC-250s had a body length of 47", and were 14.5" in diameter.
SC-500s had a body length of 55"-59" depending on variant, and were 18" in diameter.

If you could check the measurements I can identify the precise variant for you and provide the relevant illustrations.

it does appear to be a 500 kg SC500

we have just had one delivered to the Sywell Aviation Museum

The fins most likely sheared off as it hit the ground. Since it obviously didn't go off on impact, it probably buried itself 20 feet into the dirt.
