well...1985 anyway. Was cleaning out the bookcase and found these. I'm really thankful my dad was a shutterbug. Thanks to his job we spent alot of time in So. Cal. during the 80's. The quality isn't the greatest but at least this preserves some of the memories.

what caliber barrel is on the front of that P-38?

Oh, and great pictures... I wish I could have been there to see what looks like the birth of the warbird revival.

Neat pics!
That Corsair I think is the ex. tallichet, ex. Schroeder aircraft now with Tri State in Ohio being restored.

P-38 came from Lefty Gardner and went on to Stephen Grey.
Every once in a while I still have a bad dream about the years I spent working on that one.

To the right of the FG-1D is a F-5 photo nose for the P-38 laying on it's side.

Geez, one would think you'd at least crack a smile, considering the stuff you're standing next to!

Cool photos - thanks for sharing!

thats funny....everyone says that! I hated having my picture taken...oh well...BTW thats a "members only" jacket...I think its still lurking in a box somewhere. Back then you could go anywhere you wanted on the field and nobody cared.

Man, I remember those days. I went back this fall after a 10 year absence. Thanks to our own BDK I managed to get onto the field. Security sh*t like this is gonna kill off our passion. You've gotta let youngsters up close, that is how most of us started out in our prime...

Yea, no kidding! I remember driving out on the ramp next to the runway at Chino, just to take pictures of warbirds taking off and landing. You definitely can't do that now!

Anyone remember the POF ramp before the T-hangars were built that surround it now?

I have a lot of the same identical pictures that Jim took. Several of those were taken inside the Tallichet facilities.

Someday when I can find them, I'll post some pictures I have from Chino. I have some from about '78 onwards. :D
