Great photos you posted. Is your father still living? Was he a crewmember and on what type aircraft?

No he died a few years ago. He enlisted originally in the 11 Field Artillery in 1937 at Schofield. Then on March 15, 1940 upon his discharge he immediately reenlisted in the 11 Bomber Group 42 Squadron at Hickam.

My mother is very ill and last summer she gave me a box with all my fathers Military items in it. I have been scanning and sharing them ever since.

The 1943 photo was of replacements for the men they lost in 1941/1942. Three of those men are still alive and with the help of a man at the 11 BG H Association I spoke to them recently. They remembered my father and have sent me other things.

The photo of him by his plane was taken three days after the Attack. He was the ranking T/Sgt. by April 5, 1942. That was Easter Sunday, the plane went up with other men and hit the mountain coming back to Hickam. If you check two planes hit the mountain on Easter Sunday April 5, 1942 in bad weather with the lost of all their crews.

Great to see you on WIX, Gregg!

I'm surprised no one has found the B-24A in the large group photograph yet!

Thanks for sharing your material,
Scott

Gary,

David Aiken and I had a discussion about this photo about a year ago on the Lil thread back when I followed it. David, Al Blue, and I also discussed it on AAF.com and concluded that this airplane is 40-2374, on the way home from the Harriman Mission to Moscow. This photo was taken in the first half of November, 1941.
