I think it was about the coolest fly by I have ever seen! He did not hurt anybody and nothing got torn up. It looked to me like the people on the ground enjoyed it as well.

JDK, I've been reading this blog regularly since you first posted a link to it in one of the Libya threads. So thanks!

I do think the low pass was pretty amazing and entertaining but wow was it dangerous. There are alot of "what ifs" that fortunately for all involved never materialized.

So everyone involved got away with pulling a pretty crazy stunt. I hope they dont press their luck and try it again.

That guy was not just doing a low pass. He was routinely doing things with a B-52 that were wrong according to the flight manual, things that he was told not to do, and was not punished for any of it by his superiors. He was also disregarding USAF instructions on a constant basis. Nobody knows if the guy in this video was breaking Argentine rules of not. Just because it might not be a good idea does not always make it illegal.

Hi Dan,
Glad it was of interest. It's not my field, but I reckon David calls it well when he's commenting. His recent views on the 'secret' helicopter stuff was very interesting, and that rare thing, worthwhile speculation.

As to the low flight in question, well...

While I agree that there is definitely a valid discussion about airmanship regarding that particular low pass, I have to raise my eyebrows at the blog:
