A place where restoration project-type threads can go to avoid falling off the main page in the WIX hangar. Feel free to start threads on Restoration projects and/or warbird maintenance here. Named in memoriam for Gary Austin, a good friend of the site and known as RetroAviation here. He will be sorely missed.

We have been busy at the Cobra Den, so the trip to bring back the rest of the P-63F has not yet happened. Our Maintenance Officer has been in California this week learning all about B-25's. I think the recovery trip will happen sometime after the Veteran's Day week. We have bunches and bunches of fly-overs happening, and then the hangar dinner/dance too. After the dust settles, the rest of the King Cobra should be coming to the hangar.

Mike, sent you a pm.

Gee, it's been so long since we've had an update. Our Maintenance Officer, Ray Clausen, has been super busy, as have we all. The fall flying season has had us busy with airshows and fly-overs, as well as Ray going to B-25 school out in CA.
Now for some exciting news, abet late news. About two weeks ago a recovery crew went up to Ezell's and got the rest of the P-63F parts. I didn't know it as I didn't see the wings around the hangar. They decided to leave everything on the trailer since we had our hangar dinner/dance coming up on the 21st of this month. The trailer is under cover in our storage shed behind the hangar (more like a large two car garage).
Next week Ray plans to unload the trailer in the hangar and start to inventory the parts, then the cleaning, inspection, and repair process will begin. With the crew we have, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the P-63F flying in Airsho '10!

Going to try my hand at posting photos. I apologize in advance if they come out too big, small, upside down, etc.!
Took two shots of the P-63F in the "Cobra Den" last Friday.

Hmmmm, apparently things didn't turn out as expected. I'll keep working to perfect it.

Airsho 76 pic of Beech 18 and T-33 ? Sure looks like a Lockheed to me.

Cuz,
Say what? I didn't post a picture like that, or were you able to access the entire album? I'm still trying to figure out this photo posting thing. I understood that I just needed to post the links, and the photos would show up in my thread.
As far as the Beech 18 being a Lockheed, that's a real possibility! I'll look at a bigger picture and then edit the text. I was looking at a thumbnail that was about 1/2 inch square, it was about midnight, and I was trying to upload about 40something photos into the bucket.
If you don't like that excuse, let me know and I'll work on a better one!
Your ever lovin' cuzzin'
Mike

Yup, that kind of link sends people to the album, which they can then page through ALL of your pics (so watch what you put in there!) Need to use the IMG CODE which should limit you to the one pic you send the code for. Not to say a computer savvy hacker couldn't backtrack it. Like they say, locks only keep honest people out!

Ah! Cuz went through my entire album!! No doubt he was looking to see if I had any O'Club photos from Harlingen, or the Houston Hobby Airport Hilton bar! Not yet, Cuz, not YET!!!

Yea!!! Thanks Chris (Holedigger)!!!!!! You are a good teacher!

Hope it works for you. You should be able to go back to your older post and edit out the other links and replace those links with the IMG CODE links so the pics pop up and album surfing is limited. Guess that computer training thing runs in the family. My daughter does on-on-one Mac training at an APPLE store, my wife does computer training and classes at the local MacClub.....so some of that stuff must have rubbed off!

By the way that whole album is really good even if you don't have the Houston Splat Contest pictures. It is a Lockheed 10 by the way. Now you went and screwed it up and removed the link to all the photos. How am I going to proof them if you are hoarding em now?

Thanks Cuz! I'll re-edit to correctly identify the 10. Hey, I was young and didn't know a thing about airplanes back in '76!
As far as splat photos, there are somethings we don't want photographic evidence of!
Be nice and I'll send you the album link!
Hugs to my little cuzs, and my big little one too! (and his little one as well!!!)

Bluehawk15;
Could you help us with a picture of the spanner wrench that you may have at St. Marcos for the removal/installation of the wings of a P-63.
Also we'll appreciate if you could show a close-up picture of the two support bolts for the wing.
Your help is appreciated.
