Spitfire Maybe, Just Maybe Flying Soon

I flew my plane twice after the annual, and all seemed well except it was slow to turn over when starting. Since we had a new high tech battery, it seemed the starter was at fault, so it was sent for overhaul. It is the Rolls Royce type, different from the Packard which there seem to be some of available. Anyway, after about a month the starter is back to the shop and maybe, maybe, the plane might be flyable soon. In the meantime, it just started to snow again here. Ski season has not yet given over to flying season.
It's Tue now and Tim already has the starter installed and working. He's working on some coolant leaks which are prone to develop in cold weather and I hope to fly in a few days, or this weekend.

Hello Bill.
Do you need a replacement starter? A friend of mine had a couple spare awhile back.

Peter, I might have been able to use the starter before, if it is Rolls Royce 12 volt, straight drive. The Packard ones seem different.
Anyway today Sat the 15th, is a very nice day at Longmont. I did normal service, checked fluids, tire pressure, fuel and did an engine run. I didn't fly, but all seems well and ready. It cranks good now with the overhauled starter. Thanks
