What say you? About $25 each for these two gems about 1-1/2" long plus about $10 s&h via USPS Priority Mail...

What is the part number? (where do those go?). I haven't
run across those parts in my restoration yet...

Anyway, T-6 parts from a couple of well-known sources used to
be cheaper than Cessna, Piper & Beech parts, but not anymore....

I'm guessing the cost of parts has doubled (or more) during the
last decade or so (losing one "competing" source of parts due to a
fire didn't help...).

Just be glad you're not restoring a Corsair, or a Bearcat or something.
At least we can pick up the phone and order / buy just about every
T-6 part number in the book instead of having to make every single
part new from scratch!

I once called to order several new parts used in the control lock
assembly, as some of the parts from my original control lock
assembly were corroded beyond repair. A complete / new control
lock assembly was cheaper than the sum of the few parts I was
trying to obtain (I guess they must have had many of these on
hand... basic supply & demand economics).

FYI, I support a large machine shop for a major aerospace company
and you don't want to know what our hourly shop rate is!

168-33543 Link, Sel. Valve Cont. Adjust- Aft.

They go on the aft side of the hydraulic selector/timing valve. The other part of these links are female clevises and a cotter pin goes through the center to lock in the length adjustment.

Nobody had these before, but apparently the folks in Dallas found some over the past year.

The cost is proportional to the urgency of the situation. If you're grounded for this (AOG), then 25 bucks is cheap.

I needed a microswitch for the hydraulic power pack last summer, and the best that I could come up with was $33, and the switch would fit on a quarter.

Banaire had a fire about ten years ago. They don't have any T-6 airframe parts left to speak of. They have a lot of the seal kits and things that they are having made new. The do have a lot of other surplus items, but as far as T-6 specific parts, Lance Aircraft is about the only alternative.

In this case cheap is relative to what you're comparing it to. Compared to Mustang stuff T-6 parts are still cheap. Compared to other stuff, well you get the picture

They might seem expensive but what it would cost to have a machine shop whittle two of them out from bar stock...the simple answer is a lot more! Buy 'em!

The ones I bought are pictured. I came to the same conclusion before I even started the thread, just wanted to get other people's opinion. How much is your time worth?

The problem started when one of mine turned out to be broken and Lance didn't have any in stock. About a year later I guess they found some. I've looked at some othr T-6s and just found some simple links made out of flat sheet steel straps. Not sure if there was a part number for those or if they were just makeshift.

We sell them when we come across them here for 5 $ each.
We had a bunch down here last month in the "big dig" and a guy bought them to make gate hinges out of them. They aren't that rare

I can't answer to the vote, because if I answer either one, it's not really the right answer. Isn't that what the politicians say?

Anyway, I can find T-6 parts cheap, you just have to know where to look. So I would say the answer is, if you don't have enough time to look around, then yes it is expensive. So if you complain that it's too expensive it's your own fault, because you don't know where to look!

I have the time to look and in many cases I know where to look, I just don't have the time or money to travel to the places where I need to look.

I know they are small. I dont ask questions most of the time when these guys try to tie down a house with -3 bolts.
If I let the sins that take place at the hands of these commoners that come in here looking for aircraft parts for home improvement projects I would go nuts.

My favorite is the kids that make pot pipes out of anodized AN fittings
They dont know what happens to the anodizing when it burns,,,,, they all look a little wierd after time
