Oil used by RAF?

Does anyone know what brands of oil were used or spec'd in aircraft engines during WWII -in british planes?

Maybe the manuals have brands specified... Shell, or Duckhams, Wakefield/Castrol?

Just a detail for a short story I'm working on.
