Application of Data info on warbird restorations?

Those of you who are into restoring Warbirds.

Whats your preferred method of creating the stencils for Data markings on aircraft??? The recent FHC Hellcat made me think since they are using a "Paint Mask" method. Does anyone still feel the need to use the "Oil Board" method??

For whats it's worth, I prefer the authenticity of less than perfect stenciling, and plan to go the oil board route for all of the incidental stenciling on my project.

I will, however, probably use vinyl for the national insignia, which on my glider at least, were giant waterslide decals.

This on a TG-6? I made some oil board stencils for a guy a while back that was restoring a TG, wondering if its you??? :)
