Hi Just got a Spitfire Compressor. It was advertised that it powered the instruments but also been told flaps and guns. Does anyone know how I can test it and then restore it? Thanks in advance |

try turning the shaft if it doesnt move then the small piston inside is seized PICS? |

This is quite interesting. Please don't take offense PK. If you are unsure about servicing this compressor, the likelihood of damaging something is increased. That being said, you may also be able to track down a manual for this exact part. Post some pics with your question over on the "spitfire forum" (FlyPast forum). There are some extremely knowledgeable folks over there when it comes to all thing Spitfire. They might have some ideas regarding servicing, or, manuals. Andy Scott |

Thanks for that Andyno offense taken  Ill head over to that forum and see what they have to say. I've stopped my self from opening most of my stuff up for fear of breaking it. The thing doesn't spin or atleast easily, might just be abit tense but Ill seek further advice. |

They are simple to work on with care. I opened up one for our lanc to check on the condition of the piston and cylinder and was surprised to find it nice and clean inside. lubed it up and I beleive it is happily providing compressed air once more.. One note though, you are missing the drive shaft for it that connects it to the engine camshaft. |
