Post subject:  Frederick "Ted" Bullock

A great friend of the Olympic Flight Museum passes away last night, Ted Bullock.
He flew Spits and Mustangs with the 52nd FG in North Africa/Italy and had 3 confirmed in "Abduhls Baby".
Ted was a class act and always ready with a handshake and a smile. The passing of Ted and his generation leaves a void I am afraid following generations are unlikely to fill with the same class.
Ted gave a talk at the museum one night years ago and was asked how he came up with the name "Abduhls Baby"............he said that his Mustang was named "Abduhl" and when he recieved a package from his wife announcing that he now had a baby girl, she included a pair of baby "booties" which Ted hung from his gunsight, the crew chief upon hearing about the baby girl changed the aircrafts name and painted a pair of "booties" on the aircraft as well. After answering the question, Ted introduced "Abduhls Baby", his daughter to the audience. It was quite a moment as it drove home what he was fighting for on a personal level.
A few years ago a service organization that Ted was a member of presented him with a replica of his leather flight jacket from the war, he wore it everywhere. We put Ted's name on the side of our P-51.
He may be gone but he will not be forgotten.
