Frogotten Field,
Dyersburg was home to the 346th and later 223rd Combat Crew Training School. The School produced over 1,000 B-17 crews during it's operational life. Lou Thole wrote a chapter on Dyersburg AAF in the third volume of his excellent book series "Forgotten Fields of America". I highly recommend all three of his books. In addition, as Gary said, Andy's uncle Tim Bivens is collecting all historical information possible and works with the Veterans Museum located on the field at Dyersburg. He has a wealth of knowledge about the field both during and after the war.
I am also a researcher looking for Army Air Field photos and correspondence, and seeing that you saved this photo collection makes me extremely happy! To all the rest of the WIX family, if you have access to photos of buildings and facilities please try to save them, not only airplanes were a part of the War effort. Most of the towns near WWII training fields have some type of museum or archives that would dearly love pictures and other items from the Bases, and donating these items would help preserve the history of the training effort put forth.
My WIX name isn't Second Air Force for nothin!
