Warbird Information Exchange

I was in Sacramento the other day, and noticed that on the South side of I-80, that the P-51 on top of the building was gone...It has been a while since I'd been by there....The establishment was/is called "Aces High", not sure if it's a bar-club-restauraunt......I was told in past that it was a replica/fiberglass P-51, and I've heard it's the real deal, anyone know the specifics of this P-51? gary

I'm pretty sure it is (or was) "Glamorous Glen" in tribute to Chuck Yeager, who lives in Grass Valley, not too far from Sac. It was a replica, maybe 3/4 size, can't remember for sure. The place is/was a restaurant/bar, I believe.
I'm sure someone from that area will chime in.

I saw it last summer (8/2006), it was taken down and it is fiberglass. Its stored on the ground (or was) beside the building. It is full siized and I forget how it was painted off hand.

I can confirm all of the above, it is wood and fiberglass, and it is stored under a tarp, on the ground behind the fence.

Bingo! That's the one! It was authetic looking. I remember a couple or years ago at March AFB, at the museum, that there was a P-40 mounted on a pole at the entrance...it looked great till ya got up close, but heck, I'd still have one in my front yard! I also recall that at March, somebody was doing a full size fiberglass rep. of a P-38..It was dismantled...there was an awful lot of steel inside the wings, booms, and fuselage, looked very sturdy...Gary
