Hello to all WIXers. Long time lurker, first time poster here. Long story short, I am a 52 year old lifelong warbird fan. For me the warbird appeal has been going on a long time. Sunday school, 7 years old, the teacher says draw anything you want to. Everyone else is doing crosses, churches and the like. She comes over to me and says what is that? I say, "Well Mrs. Johnson, that one is a Japanese Zero and this one is a Wildcat. Boy, did she have a dumbfounded look on her face. More recently, I stopped to see Nine-O-Nine, Witchcraft and Tondelayo during their tour stop at the Barre-Montpelier airport in VT. You know, you look at a lot of stills, static images of warbirds, but then you see them in person, and wow. When Nine-O-Nine spooled up the props to leave, I got goosebumps. Guess I am a lifer..
I also spent about 22 years shooting pictures for newspapers before burnout. Had to bring out the cameras on this day, however.
Thanks to all of you for the great info and daily warbird fix.

Nice shots. You've set the bar high for your fist post. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you have, and how much higher you can push that bar. :D

McKConnor0307,

Those are some really great shots you got. Like another mentioned... you definitely haven't lost your touch.

Beautiful stuff. You capture the airplanes details so well. Thanks for posting those! Glad to see you've wormed your way out of the woodwork... :)

Cheers,

David

On the transit flight from Barre Montpielier to Glenns Falls this shot of Captain Mac Fort circling Fort Ticonderoga...

Image

And then at the next Airport...a whatsit?

Image

Image

And then the kids at this place had a school slogan of the "Flying Forts"! What a cool school mascot...A B-17 or B-29 or B-52 design was seen on several different variations of the shirts!
