I just got around to looking at the episode where they turn the B-25 part into a desk. (Although I didn't watch it long enough to see what happens at the end) An utterly horrible lame excuse for an hour of television this is. First off, I'm very unhappy to see valuable warbird parts turned into a desk and it just proceeded to anger me. Discarded 747 parts and DC-9s are fine with me, but not warbirds. The guys on the show are all your average backwards cap, goateed, pot smoker "hey dude" types....15 minutes of this travesty was enough for me. Most of it has nothing to do with aviation anyway, just the day to day procedures of their business in the office. I never ever want to see this stupid show again.

Well, I guess that should be easy enough to accomplish. I, on the other hand, rather enjoyed the program and even the likes of Carl Scholl (sp?) didn't seem to think they were doing any harm to the warbird movement. The desk turned out quite nicely also, IMHO.

And the desk ended up on display at an airport, rather than laying out in the dirt in the California desert.

This is slightly on the subject, and sorry if I deviated a little, but...

I've seen those kind of folks before. I remember a trip last year on my way from Chino California, and I was stopped for a while at a gas pump. To make a long story short: I started fueling my car went in to the store, and the fuel was done pumping for about a minute. This "Goateed Hey Dude" type gets out of his car, and yells "You're a dumba#@" as he approaches my car in a threatening manner.

Kind a road rage type of character. Really Weird.

At any rate, the goatee on those folks are kind of reminiscient of the south end of a donkey. Well, back to the subject..

I think the last thing I want to do is see those types on tv because being a musician in nightclubs four days a week here in So Cal I see enough of them in those places.

I think in the Summer they are known as "Zonies"- you know, the ones who come from Arizona to California when it is too hot. :D

Hi

This seems to be a trend - we have guys here making desks on TV out of DC3 wing tips.

As there weren't enough wing tips tp go around a very enterprising Aviation school got the students to start knocking out wing tips as part of their training material - $3000.00 each and everybody was happy !!!

I can't for the life of me see why airliner sections from the Mohave wouldn't do just as well and the wing pannels are flatter for a desk anyway - better return for the scrap guy as well - most people wouldn't know a B25 from a Volkswagen so what's the issue.

I think I will now go off and buy a few meters of Foker 100 being scrapped down the road from me - by sunday it will be a "Distinctive Executive Furniture setting for the discerning power player that just wants to make that statement that they have arrived'

Kindest regards
John P
