"The convertible that appears at the beginning and end of the film is interesting - it looks like one of the many cars customized by German coachbuilder Hermann Spohn with styling cues from the GM LeSabre dream car. Quite a few GI's had him customize their cars."

Anyone know what make that Mini-Woody Stationwagon was??
Wow, What a cool car...
I was recently ripped off on E Bay bidding on a 1950 Ford Woody...

Yes, the wagon is a Fiat - and Motor Trend, I believe, had an article on the Spohn conversions back in the early '50s. The guy was in love with the GM LeSabre, and copied its styling cues onto all kinds of unlikely cars (like a '51 Chrysler sedan  ). One surviving example is a Veritas (early postwar German sports car based on BMW running gear) in a private collection in Illinois.

The 1950's & 60's must have been a BLAST in the USAF. "The Good Old Days" Back when all the planes & equipment were brand new, fresh from the factory...

I was in the USAF during the early/mid 1990's when everything was old & falling apart.
Trust Me, it's no fun playing with someone else's tired, old broken toys... :( Digger
