True UFO

I can confirm that I don't know what it is. Data plate says some type of retraction mechanism. Looks similar to B24 ball turret retraction mechanism, but different (according to a turret expert). Any clues?

Hi

I have a couple of these and I think you will find that it IS a B24 part as thats what I recovered one of mine from.

PS I got mine working and they are great for Garage doors!!!!!

AVM Parker might be on to something here. BUT, as far as I know when it comes to B-24s and ball turrets, they were hydraulically lowered and retracted. However, the books say that in the event of an emergency, the bomb hoists can be used to retract the turret. I have some pictures that show a pulley mounted above the retraction cylinder for just such a contingency. AVM Parker, do you think this could be a bomb hoist??? I don't have any good pictures of them in the -24. Wish my uncle was still around, he could tell us!
