Thought Stoney might like to see that...was Passionate Paulette in Catch-22.

RE: the B-58,
Have you ever laid awake at night wondering how the nose gear on a Hustler could possibly retract rearward with that big pod right there?
I had an x B-58 pilot 'splain it to me at Pima a couple of years ago. nteresting.

I wondered the same thing until I saw the NMUSAF's up close and figured it out. :D

We have a mock up of the nose gear in a display at the NMUSAF that shows how it is done. It is a pretty complex movement.

Thanks for posting the photos.

If you ever get a chance to go to the Grissom Air Museum do so. I was there back in 2000 and had a great time. I've been wanting to go back but can't find the time to do so.

Thanx for the kind words there Mike :D I was a volunteer there for more than a year...cleaning bird poop off the planes, trimming around the enclosures and best of all getting to talk to some of the veterans that would show-up from time to time. Have been inside most of the planes there and have tons more pix that are unfortunately on a dead harddrive :( As you said, a great place to spend the day walking around amongst the planes, daydreaming. Rollie Douglas (ball turret gunner from the bloody 100th) volunteers his time on Saturdays and is a fine gentleman to listen to :)

I am gonna sorely miss that place and the people

For an outside display, the planes look very well kept up. Nice pictures...

Was this park named after Astronaut Gus Grissom?
