The Disney Studios park at Eurodisney has on display two full-size non-flying P-40 mock-ups, complete with battle damage, labelled as "Pearl Harbor" film props. Any idea of what happened to the other aircraft from this film? And who built them?

Didn't they blow-up the rest of the mock-ups during japanese aerial assault.

I forget who built them, but there is one on a pole outside of the March Field Museum in California.

I believe the one on display outside of March AFB is one of David Tallichet's fiberglass creations. Not sure if his company did the work for "Pearl Harbor" but it's a good possability.

I thought I heard a rumor that the March Field replica was "taken back" by Mr. Tallichet. Is it in fact still there?

I've got to make a trip out there sometime.

That is possible. My Dad got a shot of it for me in January 2002. Is was there then.

The fiberglass replica P-40 was taken down about 3 months ago. I travel the freeway adjacent to the March AFB museum monthly. It's cool that you can see the collection including B-17, B-29, A-26 and probably 50 others from the road when you drive by. Well worth stopping by there if you have a chance. 90 minute drive from Los Angeles or about 30 minute drive from Chino.

As far as I know it has been taken back by Tallichet. The disagreement happened earlier this year.

I can also confirm one that is at Wheeler Army Air Field on Oahu, Hawaii. It was donated by 20th Century Fox Film Corp and restored by the 22nd Tactical Air Support Squadron in 1974. I photographed it in 1998

Two more P 40 replicas are on show at The Disney/ MGM studios park at Orlando.

Some of these P40's must have been made post filming.

As for Pearl harbor their were 12 build 7 were destroyed that leaves one missing. Could the other P-40 in private collection that was offered on Ebay be the missing P-40.

Also what happen to the 9 P-40 left over from Tora Tora Tora, 1 is still at Pearl.


There is also the P-40 replica from the movie 1941 sitting in a yard in Kaleefornia.

Hi Rob,

So the Tora "Val"iant at March is Mr. Tallichet's also? Has that been removed from the collection too, or is it still there?

I haven't received a response back from them yet on the "Val" in my earlier quest to try to track down all of the Tora planes.

If you could fix the canopy and perhaps add a little detail to the gear they wouldn't look too bad. Don't know if anything could be done about the lack of dihedral though.
