The circle of ownership is smaller than you think

The Bearcat can't fly because the cost of the insurances is prohibitory.

Guess someone is spending their Christmas bonus?

What about Bu. 121752 that is owned by Bill Anders. It has been for sale for awhile. Wondered if it might be of interest to a US buyer over the one in France.

I hope it keeps the French Navy colors... it looks really good in them, but I imagine it will probably revert to a US Navy scheme. It would be nice to see something different though... perhaps a Thai scheme.

Cheers,
Richard

I've always been a big fan of "alternative" schemes as well. I'd love to see a Salvadoran Corsair or a RNZAF Dauntless flying around. :)

As I was told by Tillamook Air Museum following the "Americanizing" of their F4U-7 Corsair, the US air show crowds want Baa Baa Blacksheep, not obscure French markings. IMO, it still smacks of sachrelige for a so-called museum to bastardize their aircraft for the sake of placating the generally oblivious museum goer. It would seem more prudent for a museum to try and teach visitors something new about the historical significance of its particular artifacts rather than water down an ultra rare exhibit for the sake of common familiarity. If not for the logistics and financial factors, it would have bee great to see Paul Franceshi get the F4U-7 in trade for Tillamook getting their rare ex-Argentinian F4U-5NL. There are only three of each of these types in existence, and one of each type is masquerading as the other!

Kindest regards

Come on, Mint, we were having so much fun (and just getting started) trying to make everyone guess who bought it and where it was going.
I look forward to seeing the Cat flown and at airshows across the country.
