Hi All,have not seen an update on Bentwings for quite a while,does anyone know whether the flight testing & paintwork has been completed,cheers,Pete

In the last group email from Bentwings, there was not much too update. The aircraft had still not been to the paint shop, but was expected to head there in the very near future.

Believe it or not. I actually found the "White" to be quite striking for some reason or another. Wierd huh? But not as wierd as that dream I had of a HE-111 with a 50's Hot Rod, flat black with flames on the front, paint scheme with white wall tires. Yeah I know, I'm bent. Oh well.

Flight Test went very smooth, a few aileron adjustments and good to go. I've had many conversations with Brad and he is very happy with the way the Corsair flies. Their trying to get to the paint shop as soon as the weather brakes. Just talked to Doug Jeans, their Corsair being painted in house, markings of Archie Donahue, land based Marines, tri-color as a FG-1C with 20MM's.

I think it fits that Cavanaugh's is being painted as a C model seeing as how she has -5 wings with the cannons installed.

I will miss the old scheme though. It was always my favorite tri-color scheme around.

I've may have missed the thread, but is Cavanaugh's Corsair being rebuilt? The one that was involved with the Bearcat @ OSH? Thx.

Cavanaugh Flight Museum owns the FG-1D #: 92399 which had a gear up landing in a field May 2003. It needed some repair work and a new paint job which must now be coming to a conclusion. Here is a shot of the Corsair which was also restored by the same group that did N29VF.

FWIW, the "old" Cavenaugh F4U-4 from the Oshkosh incident is also tenatively scheduled for restoration in the years to come (in Texas). It will have to wait until the restoration of its current owner's other Corsair is completed.
