Wonderful presentation on the Blue Nosed Bastards of Bodney, the P-51 and most important, the men who flew and maintained the aircraft. Thank you very much.

This well done story and website brought to me a question. The P-51 is listed as a K model. The serial indicates it being built as a D-5-NT. At what point was it re-designated K? When shipped over and the prop of a different sort put on? Did they then change the serial designator stencil on the side of the fuselage to match or leave it D there?
The JBaugher serial list does not have this AC listed. It's fate seems to be as lost on April 15, 1945 at Bodney Field, 328th FS, Piloted by Lt John Reiners, KIA, takeoff accident. Remains of AC Buried at edge of field.
