This is a cool photo essay of Normandy after the invasion and today. Includes a shot of the P-47 that crashed on the beach.

Thanks for posting. I find then and now shots fascinating. This is another site you may find interesting if you liked that one.

good to hear. I'm afraid to go into it again. It was the last page I looked at before I got the virus. Luckily I was able to fix it. I hope it wasn't that site because it looked pretty interesting until my computer locked up.

I have been to many of these locations and the one thing they all have in common is how peaceful the look.

Patrick Ellie who took the after pictures , has a wonderful sight about D-Day, Here is a link for it.

It has much info and he is adding to it all the time.

Mine showed no problem with the link........
I spent some time in Normandy several years ago. Walking on Omaha Beach was very humbling, realizing the history of that spot.

My Norton's blocked the attack also. I went to Normandy back in '97 and it was truly impressive. Saw the craters that were still there and the size of the cliffs and bunkers, man those guys did an awesome job of taking those beaches.

Sorry guys I tried to warn you. I ended up doing a total restore on my computer. That was one nasty little virus. I think all those idiots that write those viruses should spend some time at Austin Acres in the rattlesnake box.

Or be targets at the range for amateur/wannabe fighter pilots.

Same here. Had ot do a system restore. McAfee alerted to multiple Trojans but my system was hung-up trying to run the worm pretending to be a PC Virus check software. I noticed an extra icon in the lower right corner of my screen -- Large white "X" in a red circle.

Thankfully, I didn't have any problem with the link.

We were at the beaches (all of 'em) in '08. Seeing the beaches from the German positions, it's simply incredible that the allies didn't lose more troops. Omaha, with the tide out, had to be downright terrifying. They aren't called "The Greatest Generation" without good reason.

Mudge the humbled
