Hi. I know this is O/T , but I guessed this is where most people would get the chance to see it. If it gets moved, then that is fine. I have been watching Band of Brothers yet again over the festive period, rather than the usual festive drivel that they put on the TV over here. I absolutely love it. It is so well done, unglorified, unsentimental. Straight to the point, and as true to life as can be in my opinion. Something that is so lacking in this day and age. A mini work of art in my opinion. I read the book a long time ago, and the series stays very faithful to that, with no uneccessary embelishments to detract from the events. I have an absolutely enormous respect for these men, and the freedoms they fought for so hard. It has made me research more about them, and given me a tiny glimpse of what their lives, and others of their generation, were like. Their story was repeated over and over, by many many people of their time, but what makes them stand that bit apart, is how well documented, and tough, their part was. My question is this. How would I go about buying a copy of the book, signed by a few surviving members of Easy Co. ? Also, how much could I expect to pay? I don't really trust e-bay, and I don't know if a lot of the websites are to be trusted. I read with much interest of the recent signing event, if I had lived in the US, I would have done anything to get there. I would truly treasure such an item, it would be something to hand over to my two year old son when he is old enough, so that when these men have all made their last jump, their memory will live on in a more tangible way. May they never be forgotten. I hope I have not rambled on too much, but this is a subject that is very emotional for me. I am not looking for freebies, or looking to make money by selling it on in a few years. I am sure most of the people who use this forum understand that.
Any information on where to start looking would be very much appreciated. Thankyou
Willie.
PS. A very Merry Christmas to all.
