For those who have not read this book, it is a very good read. I read it several years ago and its one of those books that you know you want to read again sometime in the future. Does anyone know anything about the author, Thomas Coffey? Is he still alive?

Can't tell if the author is still alive. The book was published in 1977, it is 341 pages. It is non fiction.

I'm currently reading "Masters of the Air" which covers the 8th Air Force in Europe, very good book.

Kevin, Its a very good account of the 2 raids on Schweinfurt, August 17th and Oct 14th 1943. The book also follows the development of the 8th AF and the massive build up it experienced leading up to those raids.
