Old B-24 pics

A WWII vet on my street gave me some old pics from the Pacific. He was a B-24 co-pilot. The pics were very small, some sort of special camera. I scanned them the best I could.

The first three photos are of BUZZ Z BUGGY.

Buzz Z Buggy is B-24J # 42-73327 and was part of the 375BS/308BG.

Note the fuel truck draining fuel from the wing tanks.

Do you have the serial for that B-24? I can't quite make it out.

The camera may have been a Box Brownie from Kodak, the popular camera of the day. The focus vignetting is a clue, and the format of the prints seems similar to me.

That is 44-49647, B-24L-10-FO and she made it through, ending up at Walnut Ridge. Those Italian airfields had plenty of mud to grace the bellies of the airplanes!

Oh yeah, the stories he has are awesome. I am setting up to do an interview with him for the EAA. He is a super nice guy. The one wild thing he mentioned was the first time he saw a B-29. He said it was like looking at a space ship.

ANYBODY!! NEED HELP!!

My uncle was the Flight Engineer and Top Turret Gunner on the Buzz-z Buggy. He actually named two of his sons for the pilots, Hank and Dick. His younger brother, my Dad, is looking to get any additional information about his service and those he served with. We're all a military family here. My Dad was Navy, My older brother retired from the Marines, and I retired from the Air Force and crewed on several aircraft types, lastly in the Combat Talon at Hurlburt Field FL. Any better resolution of the pictures would be appreciated as well. Also, the B-24 Best Web page shows the serial number being different than what's listed here. They say it's 42-109967. I hope to hear from you soon! Thanks!
