Hi, I am looking for info on the Hispano HA-1112's that the CAF acquired.

I understand that two are still around, while two were written off in crashes.

I just picked up this piece from Gary Austin's estate and I am trying to determine which Buchon it was removed from. I am guessing that it is a piece of upper wing skin. I'd like to track down the air frame's history to keep with the panel.

Does anyone have any pictures of the CAF Buchons?

Thanks for any help.

These aren't CAF, but are from the Earl Reinhart's old Victory Air Museum near Chicago...maybe one of them?

The truck is still for sale. I'm gonna post pictures of it pretty soon. The Spit skin went to a very generous WIX guy on the east coast. I'll leave it to him to identify himself.

Edit-taking a look at what I have won't lead to IDing that particular panel!

NX8575?

I say this because the colours on the panel are similar to those the Buchon wore before the unfortunate fatal crash. Probably way out, though.

NX8575 was the leading candidate, I finally found a picture that seems like it could match up.

I suspect this piece may be from the upper left wing. I found this shot on airliners.net http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled ... 0e9e5cd02a

It seems like the paint scheme and shape matches.

(Rotate the picture above 90* clockwise).

Edit: This link has some very good photo's of NX8575. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showth ... 419&page=2

Great thread here: viewtopic.php?t=25116&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

Took this at CAF Airshow in Galveston in 1970, don't know if it's the same plane.

I was thinking it might have been from N9939, the one that Whittington belly-landed at full-power on his low pass at Airsho 76. The grass was wet, and all it really did was mess up the prop and the leading edge/underside of one of the wings as it slid through the infield.

I have some pics somewhere in my collection of N9939 sitting in the hanger at Harlingen during it's multi-year (half-a**ed) restoration attempt, with some of the underside wing panels off of it.

*Found it....http://www.airliners.net/photo/Confeder ... 85c825ef05

I believe this is the airframe that Harold Kindsvater restored several years ago.

I still think '8575. It's that light grey with the splash of green in the bottom right corner of the panel that's screaming at me...

DarenC1 I agree. I think it really looks like a panel off of the upper left wing of '8575 based on the pictures I've seen. The location and paint scheme seem to match.

Now I just need to determine if it came off of the a/c after the crash in 87 or earlier. Judging by the paint I'd guess it came off of the plane after the 87 crash. (Which is a bit unfortunate given the fact that it was a fatal crash).

Thanks for all of your input. Any additional info is welcome.
